Zainab Abdul-Qaabidh
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I attended an Islamic school from KG through Grade 6 where I graduated Salutatorian of my class. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Business Administration, my graduate degree in General/Special Education and advanced certificates above my Master’s in School Building Leadership and School District Leadership. I currently hold dual licenses as Special Education Teacher, School Principal (K - 12) and Superintendent in New York and North Carolina. MashaAllah, I have over 20 years of experience as an educator. I have a fifteen year old son who plays football and a twelve year old daughter who plays softball and clarinet. My husband and I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, reading Quran and traveling.

Safae El Bihel
I was born and raised in Morocco, where I studied Economics. After moving to the United States, I pursued coursework in Early Childhood Education and gained a lot of experience working with children. Currently, I am enrolled in an Associate’s degree program in Web Development. Working at Al Huda Academy is such a rewarding experience. Being in a very comfortable Islamic environment has made Al Huda not just a work place, but also home for me and my only child, Rania. MashaAllah, she is one of many prominent and a talented students at Al Huda. I like to spend my free time baking cakes whenever I can, and enjoy good company and fellowship.

Mahjabeen Qayyum
I was born and raised in Pakistan. where I completed my Bachelor‘s of Science. After getting married, I moved to Durham, NC. Once here, I received an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Throughout my professional career, I have seven years of early childhood experience and am continuing my education in Early Childhood. I have two daughters who are teenagers. I enjoy cooking, learning new thing, and spending time with my family and friends.

Bedor Mohamed
I born and raised in Sudan (North Africa) where I received my undergraduate degree in law. For two years, I was a lawyer before moving to America where I took some courses in Early Childhood Education. I have been living in North Carolina for 9 years. I have two daughters and one son. MashaAllah, I am proud of their success both socially and academically. I am very happy to be a part of Al Huda Academy staff this year. InshaAllah, we will work together to reach our goal where all students are successful academically, behaviorally and in all their life endeavors.

Anjum Khan
I received my Bachelor of Education from Govt. College of Karachi and Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Karachi in Pakistan with Gold Medal. I have 15 years of teaching experience, before moving to the United States. I taught in Mashal School for special need students. Since 2006, I did a lot of volunteer work for DPS and also earned my Early Childhood Certificate from NC childhood department. After that, I worked at various early childhood center where I provided my expertise on early milestone and child improvement. In 2009, I joined Maureen Joy Charter School where I utilized my previous school experience to design homework strategy and enhance curriculum. In 2010, I joined Al Huda Academy as a substitute teacher and later became a permanent teacher in 2012. Since then, I’ve taught Pre-K and Kindergarten. I always enjoy my time with my family and I love to cook new dishes, paint, and enjoy traveling.

Maimuna Mahdi
I was born in Sierra Leone and come from a very international family, masha‘Allah. I went to boarding school and did my undergraduate degree in England, and moved to America after completing my degree in African Studies. I became very interested in Montessori Education and am qualified to teach preschool through third grade according to the Montessori Method. I spent over 17 years as a lead teacher in various Montessori Schools before joining Al Huda Academy where I now work as an Assistant in the Kindergarten classroom and use my Montessori background to provide intervention and support for students who might need additional support to thrive in the Traditional Classroom. I am delighted to be able to provide assistance as well to the Arabic and Qur’an teacher, and really treasure working in an Islamic school. I have one daughter who is currently a student at NC State. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my Parents (my Mom even volunteers in our classroom at Al Huda twice a week), studying the Qur’an, volunteering, and walking in beautiful surroundings around Durham and Chapel Hill.

Brittani Clark
I was born and raised in Washington, DC. As a mother to 5 children, I have always been passionate about education and have had the opportunity to teach in Islamic schools here and abroad, including Saudi Arabia and East Africa. I have obtained early childcare credentials 1&2 as well as a TEFL certification. I am currently pursuing my master’s in Elementary Education. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and engaging in self care.

Amena Jabbi
I was born and raised in Bronx, NY. My family relocated to Raleigh, NC in 2002. I recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration of Child, Youth and Family Development. I also received the Top Internship Award, one of the two students to receive the award. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, reading, spending time with my family and friends, and cooking, especially baking! I also love to travel! I’ve currently traveled to Panama, Brazil, Belgium, Senegal, and The Gambia.

Najaa Trotter
I was born in South Carolina and received my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. During my time in college, I facilitated an after school program for children and their parents. Upon graduating, I shifted my focus to educating patients while they recovered from certain injuries. I learned the importance of communication by teaching a variety of people. I have spent the last year homeschooling my eight year old son who has big goals. I thoroughly enjoy reading, studying, traveling, cooking different dishes while spending time with my family.

Abdul Raheem Jones
I am originally from Pennsylvania but attended school in South Carolina. I graduated from EAU Claire High School in 2006 and went on to pursue my education at Newberry College. With all praise due to Allah, I love teaching. I have over 10 years experience in preparing and strengthening the minds of young people for their next step in life. I am grateful to Allah first and then to the administration for the opportunity to teach at Al Huda academy this upcoming year.

I was born and grew up in Algeria (North Africa).I received my education back home. I have been teaching since 1986. I have 20 years of experience as French Langage Teacher in middle school and the rest as Arabic and Quran Teacher. I am a mom of 4 kids who loves cooking and baking.

Soumayyah Khabbazeh
I was born and raised in Amman, Jordan. I earned my undergraduate degree in Lab Sciences from the University of Jordan, then moved to the United States with my family in 1993. MashaAllah, I have over 20 years of experience teaching Arabic and Islamic studies at various Sunday schools and Islamic Centers before joining the faculty of Al Huda Academy in 2010 teaching Arabic and Islamic studies. By the Mercy and Grace of Allah (SWT), I earned an ijazah in Qur’an recitation in 2010 and have been teaching various Tajweed classes since then. Through the year, I have gained significant experience in planning and executing fundraising events, while co-founding and owning my own event planning corporation called “Eventthis.”

Hekma Mohamed
I am a proud mother of four who lives with my husband and kids in Holly Springs, NC. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alexandria in Egypt. With more than 16 years of experience, I volunteered in Amar Bin Yasser for Sunday school and took substituting in the States public school system in order to gain more experience. MashaAllah, I worked overseas as a Quran and Arabic teacher for three years and continued to earn Ejazas in the Quran Al-Karim. I acquired a certificate from Jordan University in Quran Tajweed; furthermore, attained a certificate from a Sheikh in Saudia Arabia and an Ejaza in Quran. The ‘Qaida El-Noorania’, the new and fastest method of teaching the younger generation how to read Quran correctly with proper Tajweed, is the final Ejaza I earned. Alhamdulillah, I am dedicated to furthering my education in order to help guide students in the correct direction to learn more about their religion and priorities.

Ola Daaboul
I was born and raised in Aleppo, Syria. I attended an Islamic school from seventh grade through high school then attended the Islamic Sharia College of Aleppo which I graduated from. I worked as a volunteer to teach kids Quran for three years. I moved to Egypt looking for better opportunities and I worked as a teacher in Bashayir Alyasimin school for a year and half, before I moved to USA with my husband and my son Mohammed. Since I came to the United States, I have been working as a Quran and Arabic volunteer teacher in North Durham Masjid . I am currently a student at Durham Tech and I want to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education.I enjoy spending time with family and friends, visiting my friends, studying, reading, and cooking.
